Cultivated for more than 2,000 years in America. The guava is called “plum of the sands” by the Aztecs. The guava would have been introduced in the Caribbean by the Amerindians, well before the arrival of the Europeans. Travelers will find them in Tahiti, Brazil and even some species in Thailand.
