Opening remarks
VAL’U SRL takes the protection of your personal data seriously. This document is intended to inform you about how we process your data and protect your rights in this context.
We pursue the objective of transparency regarding the data we collect and process, as well as regarding the reasons for its collection and processing. We protect your data to the best of our ability, including by refusing to sell or rent it to third parties. We collect and process your data mainly to be able to deliver the products or services you have ordered, as well as to keep you informed of the availability of similar products or services.
This privacy statement (hereinafter the “Statement” or the “Privacy Policy”) lists the personal data we collect – directly or indirectly – and explains how we use and process it.

Our Privacy Policy applies to all products offered by VAL’U (hereinafter the “Products”). Your role and quality in the context of data processing

It goes without saying that you can combine several roles or qualities. For example, you can be a customer and at the same time use a Val’U product, participate in an event and provide texts as an author.

Chapter 1. If you are a customer (including a subscriber)
You are a Val’U customer as soon as you order and purchase a product from Val’U and/or one of Val’U’s services.
It can be either the purchase of a product on Kipeps Shop (the online store) or a professional subscription to the Kipeps directory. In this sense, every subscriber is automatically a customer. We treat participation in events as well as the use of a digital product, in a separate section.

When you buy, for example, a product on the stands set up at events or on one of Val’U’s websites.

When you purchase a product from us, we ask you, regardless of the channel used, to provide us with a certain amount of data. This includes your name and address, telephone number, e-mail address, delivery address (or if applicable your shipping address), billing address, payment data, profession or function, VAT number and the sectors of activity corresponding to the products you have ordered and purchased.
- For what purposes do we process this data?
We process this data in order to complete your transaction (purchase), to monitor the product, to assist you in any delivery difficulties (including returns) and other problems related to the purchase of your product. We group these purposes under the term “customer management”. We do not store payment data, including credit card data. We use them exclusively in connection with the purchase of your product.
- What is the basis for the treatment?
This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract you enter into with us when making your purchase. The processing of certain data is based on our legitimate interest in carrying out our activities, which includes in particular direct marketing. For example, codes assigned to the sectors of activity to which the products you buy belong. We process this data in order to be able to inform you in a targeted manner about other products or services in the same sector of activity or that may be of interest to your profession or function.
- Do we share your data?
Your data may be shared internally, within Val’U [in particular in order to keep you informed of the products and services we offer and which, given the information we have about you, may be of interest to you. Chapter 2. If you are a user of a digital product (e.g. platform and/or online store “KIPEPS”)
You are a user of a Val’U digital product as soon as you order and purchase a Val’U digital product.
Digital products are defined as online products and applications installed on a stand-alone computer. They have the common characteristic of implying the possibility or the need to process, beyond the basic data, data concerning the use of the products.
- When does VAL’U process data about you?
When you purchase a digital product on the (dedicated) website of one of the digital products we offer.
- What data does VAL’U process about you?
When you purchase a digital product from us, we process various data about you. We then subdivide them into additional functional and usage data.
- Functional data — User and system data
Functional data relates to you, as the user, and to the system.
Data that relates to you as a user is also referred to as registration data. This is the data that supplements your basic identification data as a customer (e.g. your name and address, your function, your company, your telephone and/or fax number, your e-mail address, your VAT number and your geographical area, i.e. language preferences, product serial number, IP address, identification data of your Val’U account.
System data includes, but is not limited to, product type, operating system, software version, network environment, the names of other services you have added or integrated into your Val’U product, and error reports. In other words, this data concerns, for example, the type of browser, the pages visited, the products viewed, etc.
- Additional usage data
Additional usage data consists of performance information, such as log files and crash reports, and activity information, such as identifications.
- For what purposes do we process this data?
We process functional data to ensure that your Val’U digital products work properly, to provide you with support and to respect your preferences. We group these purposes under the term “digital product management”.
We may also use this data to improve our products and to offer you other products or services that are relevant to your interests.
We process additional usage data for the following purposes:
- Content selection, viewing, and reporting
Collecting information and combining it with previously collected information in order to select and display content for you, and to measure the display and effectiveness of that content. This includes using previously collected information about your preferences to select content, process data about the content displayed, learn how often and for how long that content is displayed, identify where and when you have taken any action in relation to that content. , for example if you clicked on it. It does not include personalization, which includes the collection and processing of information about your use of this service for the purpose of subsequently providing you with advertising and/or personalized content in other contexts, such as websites or applications.

- What is the basis for this processing?
The processing of functional data is necessary for the proper performance of the contract between us. The processing of additional usage data is based on our legitimate interest in improving the products we offer and making them more compliant/better adapted to the needs and needs of our customers. We also use these two types of data on the basis of the same legitimate interest in order to offer you products or services that, given the information we have about you, may be of interest to you (direct marketing).

Chapter 3. If you are a learner/participant in a training
You are a learner as soon as you register for one of the training courses organized by Val’U.
- When does VAL’U process data about you?
We need data about you when you register for one of the training courses organized by Val’U. We obtain this data either directly from you when you register personally or from your employer when the latter takes care of your registration.
- What data does VAL’U process about you?
This includes data such as your name and address, telephone number, e-mail address, profession or function, company, billing address, if applicable your payment data and VAT number, as well as the dates of the training courses and the areas in which the training is provided. When the employer takes care of the registration, data relating to the persons who carry out the registration on behalf of the employer are also processed, as well as payment and billing data communicated on behalf of the employer.
- For what purposes do we process this data?
We process this data in order to be able to register you for the training you intend to take. We call this purpose “training management”.
We do not store payment data, including credit card data. We use them exclusively as part of the payment for the training.
- What is the basis for the treatment?
This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract you enter into with us by registering.
The processing of certain data is based on our legitimate interest in carrying out our activities, which includes in particular direct marketing. For example, this applies to the codes assigned to the areas in which you follow the training. We process this data in order to be able to inform you in a targeted manner about other training courses provided in the same field or that may be of interest to your profession or function.
- Do we share your data?
There is limited sharing of your data, i.e. with the trainer or teacher so that they can take it into account when preparing the training and, if necessary, with training institutes or other partners that we use to organise the training. In the latter case, this is always done under the control of Val’U.

Chapter 7. If you are the contact person or representative of a professional client
Not all Val’U customers are natural persons.
In particular, they may be organizations or legal persons. They act through natural persons who represent them or act as contact persons. In this case, Val’U processes your data, as a contact person or representative of a professional customer (in the form of an organization or legal entity) of Val’U, when this contact or representative orders and purchases a product or service from Val’U, for the organization or legal entity.

Chapter 8. If you are a prospect
You are a prospect when you have not yet entered into a contractual relationship with Val’U, but Val’U Srl sees in you a (potential) customer who could order a product or service.
Although Val’U may approach customers for the purchase of new products or services, we do not consider them in this privacy statement as prospects. The status of prospect requires the absence of any relationship with Val’U Srl.

You are a supplier of Val’U as soon as you sell us specific products or services that we need to be able to provide our own services.

When you sell a product or service featured on one of our sites, you are a supplier. In this case, we process your data, either as a supplier or as a contact person or representative of the supplier (if it is an organisation or legal entity), in order to be able to order, pay for and maintain the product or service.

We only share your data with the departments responsible for orders and payments (accounting).

We keep your data for as long as you deliver products or services to us. We then keep them for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of our relationship.
This period corresponds to the limitation period under ordinary law which allows us to contest a performance in court up to ten (10) years after its execution. We must, of course, have the necessary data for this.

Chapter 10. If you are a person with a specific interest in VAL’U Srl
You may not be linked in any way to Val’U, but Val’U considers that in the context of its public relations you are of particular interest because you could serve its legitimate interests (in the future) because of your added value in the exercise of its activities.
This opinion may stem from the position you hold (e.g. African private sector professional), the mandate you have been given (e.g. politician or university professor), or the activities you carry out (e.g. lawyer or journalist).
These people have at least two characteristics in common, namely: their professional data is public, on the one hand, and these people are able to create, in one way or another, added value (goodwill) for the benefit of Val’U Srl.

- What is the basis for the treatment?
The processing of this data is based on our legitimate interest in undertaking and operating our business. This legitimate interest also covers public relations and the possibility of contacting others in defined circumstances or in connection with opportunities in connection with our business activities.
- Do we share your data?
Your data is exclusively processed internally, by the services that need it.

- How long do we keep your data?
We keep your data as long as your function, mandate or activity allows you to play a role for the benefit of Val’U Srl. Your data will be deleted as soon as this is no longer the case.

Chapter 11. Children’s data
Val’U Srl does not address children under thirteen years of age. Although visitors of all ages may browse our websites, we do not knowingly collect or request any personal data from children under the age of thirteen without parental consent. If it appears, as a result of the intervention of a parent or guardian, or in any other way, that a child under the age of thirteen has unlawfully registered on our site using false information, we delete the child’s account and delete the personal data concerning him from our registration files.

We use personal data to deliver, enable the use and maintain our Val’U products and services. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between us.
Chapter 2. Use and improvement of digital products
We first process your data to enable you to use our digital products. This includes informing you of software and security updates, as well as tracking maintenance issues. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between us.
We also use additional data for research purposes, as well as for the development and improvement of our Val’U products and services, including the maintenance and performance improvement of our Val’U products and services, as well as the design and addition of new products, features and possibilities, for example by consulting error reports (to improve security features), search queries and clicks (to improve the relevance of search results) and usage data (to determine which new features should be prioritized). We use personal data to organise training courses, and therefore to enable you to register, as well as to keep you informed of upcoming training courses that may be of interest to you. In this context, we also process the personal data of the persons who provide the training. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between us.
Chapter 4. Accounting
The purchase and sale of products and services requires various accounting treatments. It is therefore perfectly justified that we process your personal data, as a customer or supplier, learner or trainer, in order to make payment for products or services. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between us.
Chapter 5. Dispute management
If a dispute arises with you, as a customer or supplier, in connection with the delivery of a product or the provision of a service, your personal data will be processed in connection with this dispute. Your data may also be shared with lawyers or other professionals in the context of defending our interests.

We use the data of suppliers, whether they are suppliers who are natural persons or natural persons who represent a supplier, in order to order products or services, pay for them and ensure their maintenance. This processing is necessary for the performance of the contract between us

We use the data we collect to offer you other products or services. Direct marketing concerns both customers and prospects, i.e. natural persons who do not (yet) have the status of customers. Val’U Srl uses various external service providers for the performance of specific services, such as the management and hosting of its websites, online purchases and shipping of its products, the processing of credit card transactions and email communications. Val’U takes the protection of your personal data seriously and does everything in its power to secure it. However, no security system is foolproof, despite all reasonable precautionary measures taken.
We put in place numerous appropriate technical and organisational measures and meet industry standards to protect your personal data against theft, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration or destruction of your data. For example, for this purpose, we store your personal data on IT systems hosted in a secure environment to which access is restricted. We also ensure that our external data center providers take appropriate security measures. Your data is also protected. Your passwords are stored in a , which means that they cannot be recovered or disclosed, not even by Val’U.
Access to your Val’U account information, for example regarding the online shop, and to our services is only possible by means of a unique identifier and a personal password. In order to ensure the confidentiality of your personal data, however, you must ensure that you keep your password secret and do not disclose it to anyone. Section 6. How long do we keep your personal data?
Val’U keeps your personal data for as long as necessary to achieve the purposes pursued by their processing.
This means that we keep your data for as long as we remain in contact, i.e. as long as you remain one of our customers or suppliers. We then store your data for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of our relationship, i.e. the period during which you can bring an action against us on the basis of the performance of the contract between us, considering that we may only be able to contest your requests by producing the data in our possession.
This also means that we keep your data for as long as necessary to allow you to use our websites and in particular our digital product (the Kipeps platform and online store), to allow us to deliver products and/or provide services, to comply with the legislation in force (in particular that relating to the retention of documents), to resolve any disputes and, generally, to enable us to conduct our business.
The retention period depends on your quality and the purpose we pursue.
We keep customer data for as long as they remain customers, and then for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of the customer relationship in order to be able to contest any legal claims. We keep the data of users of Val’U services or products – including the digital platform and the “Kipeps” online store – as long as they remain users, then for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of use, this is the reasonable time to guarantee a legal defense if necessary. We keep the data of learners for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of the training, some of them sometimes asking us for certificates of attendance a posteriori.
We only store visitor data – physical (e.g. at an event) and online – to a limited extent, unless visitors have another quality and their visit falls within that other quality. We only keep prospects‘ data for a limited period of time, considering that they are or can quickly become obsolete. However, we may subsequently obtain data relating to prospects from third parties and process them.
We keep suppliers’ data for as long as they remain suppliers and then for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of our relationship in order to be able to contest any legal claims.
We keep the authors’ data for as long as they collaborate with us as authors, and for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of our collaboration in order to be able to contest any legal claims.
We store the data of contact persons or representatives of organizations or legal entities for as long as these organizations or legal entities maintain a relationship with us, as a customer, supplier or otherwise, and for a maximum of ten (10) years after the end of our relationship in order to be able to contest any legal claims.
The retention of data after the end of the relationship does not mean that it will be used for all possible purposes. In principle, the data is stored passively after the end of the relationship. In other words, they are only kept for use in possible legal proceedings.

We always respond as soon as possible, and within thirty (30) days maximum, to requests for access to personal data and requests for erasure of personal data.
Chapter 2. Your communication, marketing and advertising preferences
You may opt out of receiving direct marketing messages from Val’U by following the instructions provided in each email we send you, under the “Unsubscribe” button.
You can also unsubscribe from mailing lists by emailing us at info@valugroupe.com. We respect your decision and will therefore no longer send you promotional emails upon receipt of your unsubscription or as soon as your communication settings are changed.
Regardless of your communication settings, please note that we will continue to send you business information, such as changes to our terms, as well as updates to our policy and software for our Val’U products (e.g. the Kipeps platform).
